The African baskets are different from one country to another, the baskets of West Africa (Senegal, Ghana ..) are different from the baskets of Southern Africa (Zimbabwe, South Africa, etc.). This difference is mainly due to the fact that many ethnic groups live in these regions, in addition to that the life experiences, and the climate give different tools to make baskets. The weaving of baskets is really an art, and you can generally recognize which region and sometimes which country of Africa they come from. The whole process requires skills handed down from generation to generation. Laundry baskets are dyed with natural plant pigments as well as commercial dyes.
